Where to buy and sell funds
You can buy and sell funds directly over the phone, on the internet or with the help of a financial adviser.
Independent Financial Advisers (IFAs)
This might be the easiest way to invest in a fund if you are new to investing. They can advise you on funds and help you select the most suitable one for your needs. IMA’s Financial Adviser Search is a useful place to start.
Fund platforms
Fund platforms are online one-stop-shops. They provide information on a wide range of funds, the managers, the performance record and the price of shares and units in funds. Generally, they do not advise you on what fund to select. You have to do the research yourself and determine which one is right for you. So, if you are confident about what you are doing, then this can be an efficient way to invest.
Fund management companies
Fund management companies sell direct to you as a private investor. IMA’s Fund Manager Search can help you search for one.
