How to monitor your investments
There are different ways to check that your investment is continuing to meet your objectives.
Regular reports on performance
The fund manager provides an annual report, which describes how the fund has done over the last year.
You will be sent statements from the fund manager at regular intervals. These will show the number and price of the units or shares in the funds that your contributions have bought as well as the value of your investment as at the statement date.
Monitor the value of your investment
You can check the value of your investments on any day by taking the number of units or shares shown on your most recent investment report and multiplying this by the unit or share price.

Income
The income produced by funds is expressed as a yield. The yield is a percentage. It indicates the level of income you are getting or are likely to get from your investment.
Review your investments
You should check on how the fund has performed and ensure that your investments are still right for your needs. If you have a financial adviser, you can ask him or her to review your investments once a year or when your financial circumstances change. If your circumstances have changed, you may need to rethink your approach.
Tracing lost investments
Over the years, a number of UK funds have merged or undergone name changes. This sometimes makes it difficult to track them down.
If you are unable to trace a fund, IMA may be able to help. We may be able to trace old funds if you have the fund name or management company name, but we cannot find funds on the basis of your personal details. Please email ima@investmentuk.org and we will try to assist you.
