Press Release

For immediate release: Monday 9 May 2005

IMA has updated 'The Directory' - a free and comprehensive guide to authorised unit trust and OEIC funds managed by its members.

The Directory is packed full of essential information to help potential investors identify those funds which meet their investment objectives.  Funds are listed by sector, with straightforward comparative information on charges and minimum contribution levels.

Available both in hard copy and online at /investors/find_fund the guide categorises funds by traditional sectors alongside fund of funds, tracker funds and funds which invest according to ethical criteria.

Both versions of the guide include:

  • Initial, annual and exit charges for funds
  • Minimum lump sum and regular savings contributions for both unit trust/OEIC funds and where available, through an ISA
  • Whether PEP/ISA transfers are accepted into the fund
  • Whether the fund offers income units, accumulation units or both
  • Frequency of income payments

The online version permits a more interactive approach and enables consumers to search not only by fund name and sector, but also by management group, contribution levels and charges - initial, annual management or total expense ratio.

Mona Patel, Head of Communications at the IMA commented:

"This Directory equips investors with an invaluable source of information to help them make more informed decisions. By providing information which compares funds with similar objectives or similar underlying assets, investors are able to draw up a shortlist of funds that meet their investment objectives Investors who are unsure about their investment objectives and attitude to risk should contact an independent financial adviser."
