About The IMA
The IMA is the trade association for the £3.9 trillion investment management industry in the UK. We have 185 members, accounting for over 95% of the industry in the UK. Our role is to represent the interests of the industry to government and regulators in the UK and internationally, and to promote high standards within the industry.
Many of our policy positions are set out in the responses sent to consultations by the Government, regulators, the European Commission and others. We also maintain links with Parliamentarians in both Westminster and the European Parliament and have contributed regularly to the deliberations of Parliamentary Select Committees.
We publish and commission research into various aspects of the industry. This helps to inform policy submissions and promotes greater understanding of the industry.
We maintain a system of classifying funds by sector, designed to help investors and their advisers. Funds in our sectors are regularly monitored for compliance with sector definitions, and oversight of the system is led by an industry committee, the Sectors Committee.
We are funded by our members. Our Board consists of senior members of the industry and we have a range of committees of members covering specific subject areas.
